Spotlight On: Exhibition Installation

When all the excitement of the creative design of your project has faded it’s time for the Project Management and Exhibition Installation team to take over and turn that dream vision into reality.

The part of the team that you meet and work with depends upon the type of event we are producing for you. The wider team has a host of crossover skills, but we have certain experts in niche areas of the events industry who are perfectly placed to give you the best service and advice for your particular project.

Are you hosting a conference or awards ceremony? Then you’ll almost certainly be meeting Rob and Alicia, who between them have produced countless live ceremonies on a local, national and international level, overseeing every aspect of logistics, sound, light and venue liaison. They know pretty much all there is to know about short deadlines in conference suites with poor access and high security.

Maybe it’s a shopfit where you’ll need the assistance of Mark C (the handsome and humorous author of this blog), who has nearly thirty years of experience in all things construction. He’s worked with blue chip companies worldwide to deliver in-store rebranding solutions and has a lifetime of knowledge he’s happy to share with you (whether you want to hear it or not).

All of our Exhibition Project Management Team are underpinned by a strong (figuratively and literally) Fabrication and Installation Crew. These are the boys that really make the magic happen. They have a broad experience of working in every kind of location - not just the usual exhibition halls and conference venues. They’ve built temporary structures in shopping centres, train stations, aircraft hangers and even royal palaces. There’s no venue that fazes them, and if it’s an outdoor event, then the wetter and colder the better! From the everyday routine of stand building on the Cote D’azure to the dizzying glamour of a carpark rebrand in Leicester, our crews love it all.

Their skill set is as diverse as the languages they speak, and they can overcome almost every problem within the team. Equally important to them is knowing what they don’t know, and the ability to be able to recognise the need for advice and input from the wider team is key to their success, although it did cost us a small fortune to have their egos surgically removed.

These teams are headed by two people. One is Mark H, who looks after our workshop production and fabrication team. Mark has one eye on the quality control of everything that goes out of our doors, and another on our forward planning to ensure that nothing is left to the last minute. Sadly this means that he has no eyes left for filing the mountain of paperwork on his desk, but with over twenty five years in the live events industry this is apparently beneath him.

The exhibition installation teams are looked after by Tony, a self-confessed tool addict. He has an almost superhuman ability to be able to pick and brief the right crew members for the right jobs, and to know when someone needs a cuddle, an expletive or just an extra sugar in their tea in order to get the job done. A top tip when dealing with Tony - a Maryland Double Choc Chip Cookie and he’s yours forever.

Of course, there are many more staff members that make up our team, each with their own uniqueness, but one article is not enough to give them the credit they deserve. Ultimately, the proof of our success is our groaning awards shelf and our ever-increasing client base.
