Identity Events specialist branding teams worked closely with Cottimore Design, the FCO and other stakeholders (which can range from the Royal Family to No. 10 Downing Street) to provide each conference with its own unique brand.

Identity were approached by Cottimore Design, on behalf of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, to support their Events Team in the provision of a variety of different components to comprise a conference stage set design and build, audio visual planning, installation and management as well as signage and branding for the Friends of Yemen Conference. This was hosted by the UK, Saudi Arabia and Yemen aimed to transition Yemen towards a constitutional referendum and elections. The venue for the summit was Lancaster House in London and the event was attended by British Foreign Secretary, Saudi Arabia’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and Yemen’s Foreign Minister.

Precision Planning

With a little less than one month between the first conference call to delivery, Identity’s approach to planning is tested and proven. The Friends of Yemen conference required branding to the exterior of Lancaster House, internal branding in key areas, press backdrops, staging with backdrops and wayfinding signage.

Expert Installation

Just four hours before delegates from 39 countries arrived, Identity were on-site and the team from the previous conference were on the way out. Each Identity team were fully briefed the day before (using the 3D walkthroughs) which meant that the build could start immediately. After protecting the venue flooring with impact resistant flooring and polythene the build began! Split into A, B and C the teams began working through their project plan – venue dressing, backdrops and wayfinding. Once signage systems had been pre-built, graphics were fitted and re-checked against signed off visuals. Once an area was complete a signoff would be completed with the project manager. The result meant the branding was finished two hours early.

Feedback

The seventh ministerial level meeting of the ‘Friends of Yemen’ was a success endorsing a new structure of working groups designed to align support for Yemen. The branding was well received and used across the world’s media for a number of weeks after the event.
