SMM Show, Hamburg

Parker Kittiwake

Parker Kittiwake, based in Littlehampton, specialise in providing on-line and off-site solutions, for the condition monitoring of critical plant machinery in the oil, energy and marine industries. They approached Identity to provide them with an exhibition stand for the SMM show at the Messe Exhibition Centre in Hamburg. This is the worlds leading trade fair for the maritime industry, with over 2100 exhibitors and 50,000 visitors over the four day show held every two years.

The build

Parker Kittiwake wanted to produce custom exhibition plinths and counters, which were to be repurposed back into the head office, in Littlehampton, post-show. Identity designed and produced these with LED lighting and custom made CNC cut foam tops, for products on the plinths.

Large format banner grade graphics formed the imagery on the walling of the stand, with a hanging banner flown from the ceiling of the venue to provide standout and height. Due to the scale of the image on the back wall (approx 10 m wide) we had to make sure the resolution was high enough so that the image did not appear pixelated when viewed closely.

Detailed plans were needed to ensure the items produced could be re-used post show and that they could be used on the stand.

All elements were produced pre-show and loaded straight onto the trucks for install.

The install

The install at the show took place over 3 days with full sign off the day before the 4 day show. The stand took a day to remove from the hall, with all client show stock and custom made furniture removed and sent back to Parker Kittiwake, for repurposing back into their offices.

The client was incredibly happy with how the stand came out and was incredibly surprised as to how similar it looked to the render, that Identity produced. They were also very happy with the show items we produced and the attention to detail, when it came to the CNC foam cut-outs for the plinths. These items are now standing pride of place in the Parker Kittiwake office showroom, in Littlehampton.

With over 50,000 people visiting the show over the four days, Parker Kittiwakes first SMM show was a success, and they will certainly be exhibiting at the 2018 show.
