SMM & IMPA 2016

The brief

As a longstanding client of ours, ShipServ came to Identity, once again, to create their exhibition stand at two of the world’s leading trade fairs for the maritime industry. The first, being SMM at the Messe Exhibition Centre in Hamburg and the second, IMPA at the Queen Elizabeth Centre in London.

The Design

Due to our working history with ShipServ, we know exactly what they are looking for when it comes to the design of their exhibition stands, all be it with a few tweaks here and there. The brief given to Identity, was to design another pair of eye-catching stands to provide a clear, clean and polished message. The designs had to work for the different audiences at both shows in Germany and the UK which was a challenge relished by our design studio.

The Build: SMM Hamburg 2016

The stand itself made the voyage across the channel, via road and into Germany. This was no mean feat as Identity were building a total of 3 stands at the same show. There was extensive planning that went into arranging the complex logistics, but it was nothing our veteran Projects Director, Rob Gietzen, couldn’t handle! The Identity team set off the following day via Heathrow. The build itself lasted 3 days in the German, summer heat. The local amenities were a welcome relief for the team at the end of the build!

The Build: IMPA London 2016

The team made the short journey up to Central London the day before the show opened, leaving one day to build the stand. Being a one day show, IMPA is on a much smaller scale in comparison to SMM. The design itself followed SMM, with tweaks being made to the units and walling size. It was a simple task for Identity and the free tea and coffee provided by the venue, was greatly received by the installation team.
